It's difficult for any actor to go from Disney stardom as a child to acting respectability as an actor, and that climb to respectability has been tough for Zac Efron. I think we have a natural aversion to rooting for any man that handsome to succeed, but I will admit to being impressed with Efron on several occasions, including the under-seen and underrated Parkland.
His biggest stab at respectability yet is due later this year when he steps into the shoes of notoriously handsome serial killer Ted Bundy in Netflix's Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil, and Vile. Netflix currently has a Ted Bundy documentary series in rotation, so this might cause some confusion later this year when it hits the streaming service.
Sadly the film doesn't have any nudity in it, as our Skin Skouts caught it at Sundance this past January, but it does have plenty of sexy moments with the two female leads played by Lily Collins and Kaya Scodelario. It's probably not the best thing in the world to be looking forward to sexy scenes in a film about one of the most infamous serial killers in American history, but then again, there are worse reasons to tune in.
Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil, and Vileis currently scheduled to screen at the Tribeca Film Festival in early May, with a release date on Netflix expected soon after.
