Women in Love (1969)

Siblings Gudrun (Glenda Jackson) and Ursula (Jennie Linden) are the titular characters in Women in Love (1969). Per D.H. Lawrence’s same-named novel, the film is set in an English mining town during the 1920s. Although they’re working-class, the sexy sisters get in with a rich and hip clique. Gerald Crich (Oliver Reed) has money and an obsession to possess artsy Gudrun. As such, the two (Jackson and Reed) can be seen in bed. In fact, the two (Jackson’s nude boobs) make a couple of appearances in the pic! No wonder why Glenda won an Academy Award and a Golden Globe for her performance. Not to be outdone, Ms. Linden exposes her globes for her onscreen suitor Rupert Birkin (Alan Bates). Despite having open notions about relationships regarding men & women and men & men, Rupert fights his flirtation for Gerald and ends his affair with exotic paramour Hermione Roddice (Eleanor Bron) to wed Ursula. We can see why he made this choice since Jennie is nude in some choice scenes. The topless blonde romantically moves through a field to swirl around with Bates via groovy skinematography. If that’s not erotic enough, the British babe flashes her rack while going skinny-dipping. Nice breaststroke! The same can be said of Laura Crich (Sharon Gurney) who displays her naked T&A while swimming sans clothing. Perhaps that’s why Ken Russell scored an Oscar nod for his direction and proceeded to adapt Lawrence’s racy novels into The Rainbow (1989) and Lady Chatterley (1993). Talk about skintastic classics!
