Wattoo-Wattoo

No Nudity

Review

No, it’s not the name of the little guy on Fantasy Island who shouted “Da Plane, Boss! Da Plane!” That was Tattoo (Hervè Villechaize). We have no idea where the name came from or what the hell it means, but Wattoo-Wattoo was a short-lived French musical variety show geared towards children and young adults. It went on and off the air in 1978 and was hosted by one Dorothée--another aspiring single-named celebrity who managed to get the one name part right while missing out on the celebrity. Looking and dressing like an Abba reject, she kept the show rockin’ and rollin’--if the predominantly Disco theme of the late 70’s is your idea of Rock n’ Roll. As for Dorothée, the last thing she did was French voiceovers for The Smurfs in the early 80’s before her career became as extinct as all those little blue bastards. However, she did leave her monument to skinema behind in the 1980 film Pile ou Face, where she briefly showed off her lithe body and, in the tradition of the Great Temptress herself, gnawed on an apple while standing around naked.
