This cold-war era animated series could be considered a forerunner to such shows as The Family Guy, and was often perceived as a cartoon doppelganger for All in the Family. Harry Boyle (voiced by Tom Bosley) is a conservative businessman with two teenage kids, Chet (David Hayward) and Alice (Kristina Holland). The perpetually stoned Chet is a hippie and Alice is “sexually liberated” (a.k.a “A Slut”--at least by 1972 standards). Harry's youngest son Jamie is an ally, snitching on his older siblings every chance he gets, but Harry's wife Irma (Joan Gerber) remains neutral in the ongoing war of wills. Meanwhile, the paranoid next-door neighbor Ralph (Jack Burns) tries to prepare anyone who will listen for the inevitable takeover by the godless commie bastards. Although it only lasted for two seasons, the show garnered a healthy fan base and lived on for a time in syndication. Besides guest voice appearances by such comedy legends as Don Knotts, Jonathan Winters, and Phyllis Diller, the most memorable part of the show for those who grew up watching it was the catchy theme song. Just like her sexually liberated character Alice, actress Kristina Holland had no problem liberating her lung covers in The Strawberry Statement. This Elven-like brunette beauty also starred in The Courtship of Eddie’s Father and Bruce Cassidy and the Sundance Kids before riding off into the sunset of fleeting fame.
