Filmed reality and staged dramatics have become difficult to distinguish from one another due to a glut of unscripted television programs that purport to present people behaving as they truly would in actual-life stress situations. Voyeur.com (2000) ups the ante of the so-called reality genre’s "closed environment" subset by introducing a secret slasher to its cast of unrelated and seemingly random housemates. All the dormitory squabbling, tantalizing lounge wear, silly alliances, and clandestine hookups of real reality shows are preserved in the staged dramatics of Voyeur.com, plus most of the contestants are killed off before the end of the show, an added satisfaction that real-world television producers might want to consider.
