Vaya con Dios (2002)

The Hollywood hit factories have cranked out innumerable buddy road pictures, each more implausible than its unlikely predecessor, but the Germans take the prize for most outlandish premise in an established genre with Vaya con Dios (2002). Fearless, humorous director Zoltan Spirandelli has resorted to following the bumbling misadventures of three formerly cloistered monks thrust reluctantly into the outside world, turning the Odyssey formula inside out. Accustomed to overcoming every hardship by singing Gregorian chorals, the trio of brothers hit the highway headed for the Tuscan region of Italy and are confronted by temptations beyond their wildest, wettest dreams.
