Trauma (2017) is a horror film about four female friends who go on a rural vacation in Chile where they are brutally attacked by a deranged man and his equally twisted son. The movie is actually Chilean, and the language is Spanish. Everything starts out hunky-dory on vacation with lesbian lovers Camila (Macarena Carrere) and Julia (Ximena del Solar) getting naked and getting down in a sex scene that lasts long enough to enjoy the view and all the fun the ladies are having. There's breasts smashed against more breasts, legs intertwined, and lots and lots of kissing. Julia also does a striptease dance for her friends, making Mr. Skin believe that suspenders should definitely be a fashion staple in every gal's wardrobe. The movie takes a dark turn thanks to those two evil guys, but we still get to see Magdalena's (Dominga Bofill) magical bush when she grabs a knife. The whole film turns into a "let's get the bad guys who done us wrong" adventure. With the movie's tagline being "The persistence of evil requires dark loyalties," however, the whole thing turns out to have even more diabolical roots than anyone could have ever imagined (gasp!). While the film was never destined to win any great theatrical prizes, it did grab some attention in the awards arena, grabbing a Best Film nomination from the Vancouver Badass Film Festival, and another one from the Grossmann Fantastic Film and Wine Festival. And really, aren't those the only accolades a film truly needs?
