Tipping the Velvet (2002) proves that the BBC knows its T&A. Based on 1998’s same-named novel by Sarah Waters, this three-part mini-series will make home viewers maxi-hard since it focuses on lesbian love affairs! The provocative period piece follows Nan Astley (Rachael Stirling) who is a male impersonator at a music hall in England during the 1890s. While wearing a man’s uniform, Nan catches a brief glance at her bush below. Her family runs an oyster bar, so you know she’s got a thing for clams. Perhaps that’s why the vampy Victorian ends up shucking the shell on Kitty Butler (Keeley Hawes) after getting aroused by her cross-dressing routine. Together, the naked ladies reveal their bare breasts and same-sex preferences in bed. But after Nan loses Ms. Butler, she becomes a streetwalker and eventually the sex slave to a rich dominatrix named Diana Lethaby (Anna Chancellor). As such, she touts her ass as she dons a massive strap-on dildo at a dinner party where she parades her painted pair, much to the delight of the degenerate guests. The historical saga includes soon-to-be A-listers such as Benedict Cumberbatch, Hugh Bonneville, and Sally Hawkins. As Zena Blake, the latter thespian goes lesbian when she and Miss Astley hump each other. In addition to exposing her Sapphic tendencies, Zena flashes her chest ever so quickly.
