Long Live T&A: Three 'Game of Thrones' Redheads Defend Show Nudity

Game of Thrones has long been critiqued—by everyone but us—for its plethora of nude scenes. There was a point in time we thought Emilia Clarke wouldn't doff her duds again, but lo and behold, she stepped out of a burning building in the buff and gave us a new hope for nudity. When the public speculated that she'd used a body double, she proudly stepped forward to say the good were all hers—but she wasn't the only one to stick up for stripping down on screen.

In three separate interviews recently, three different Game of Thrones redheads (surely a coincidence) commented on their nude roles and how theyempowered their characters and themselves. Josephine Gillan, who plays the courtesan Marei, was quoted by The Daily Mail saying her role had removed her from the world of real-life prostitution and landed her several roles in mainstream/indie movies. Previously known in the adult world as Sophie O'Brien, this actresses first big GoT showed her learning how to fake an orgasm from another lady of the night before debuting in an orgy scene with the Prince of Dorne.

Then there was Rose Leslie, commenting on how her famous cave sex scene with Jon Snow was an important part of depicting her character, Ygritte. Actually, when asked if she was proud of baring boobs and butt, her exact words were "damn straight."

Andthen the Red Woman Carice Van Houtenherself chimed into the general conversation, saying it was a bit odd people were so cool with brutal, gorey violence but were weird at the mere sight of boobs. People spend some of their daily life naked, so why omit it from TV, right?!

Great boobs, we might add. Needless to say, we're excited to hear the ladies of one of our favorite showsstand behind their nude roles. Hopefully this mean there will be plenty of skin in Westeros to come!
