The Whore's Son (2004)

An ill-adjusted teenager struggles with the revelation of his mother’s occupation in the festival-award-winning Austrian drama The Whore’s Son (2004). Stanislav Lisnic stars as Ozren, a brooding teenager who’s been kept in the dark about the fact that his Croatian émigré mom (Chulpan Khamatova) services johns for a living. As Ozren matures, he begins to suspect that his mom’s not the waitress she claims to be, while his struggles with this revelation serve as the engine that drives the stormy plot. Khamatova’s such a bombshell that she must have little problem delighting her clients. As for Ozren, he gets over his troubles well enough to explore the nature of mom’s work with a motherly courtesan who lets him smother his troubles in her enormous chest.
