The Story of O: Untold Pleasures (2002)

The letter O, presented as though it were a word on its own, such as in "the big O," can have only one meaning, orgasm. This definition is never far from the surface in The Story of O: Untold Pleasures (2001). O, at first glance, is the name of the film’s lead character, a female avant-garde photographer who is caught between the financial necessities of paying her bills and the artistic imperative of devoting her energies to creating her striking and meaningful images. Her boyfriend, trying to be helpful, introduces her to a wealthy, vaguely carnal patron who initially appears to be the savior of O. The benefactor, however, draws the sexy shutterbug into a lifestyle of erotic excess and playroom depravity, and the subtext of O bursts forth like an insistent erection. Once up, can it ever be beaten down again?
