The Story of O (1975)

The 1954 erotic novel “The Story of O” was finally made into a movie during the 1970s. You’d think by that time audiences would be ready for the sadomasochistic storyline but the NC-17 flick was frequently picketed and/or shut down at local screenings. As a result, Corinne Cléry’s turn as the title character didn’t quite become as popular as, say, Sylvia Kristel in Emmanuelle (1974). Even by today’s standards, The Story of O (1975) is still pretty racy as the titular tart joins boyfriend René (Udo Kier) at a retreat in Spain, where she’s taught the ropes (so to speak) of bondage. This comes in handy for René, who’s in debt to his stepbrother. All is forgiven once he hands O over as property. You’ll be glad you invested in Corinne too since the sexy sub shows off her bare breasts, fluffy muff and delightful derrière again and again. In one scene, the topless hottie is scrubbed up; in another, she’s poked and prodded by a prospective buyer. Later, the full-frontal fox shares her assets with two dudes at once! If that’s not satisfying enough, Li Sellgren displays her naked T&A and lesbian ways! The nudie movie also includes the flesh flashed by Jehanne Blaise, Ewa Carson, Christiane Minazzoli, Albane Navizet, Sylvie Olivier, and Nadine Perles. No wonder the skinternational pic spawned the sequels Les Fruits de la Passion (1981), Story of O: Chapter 2 (1984), and The Story of O: Untold Pleasures (2002).
