The Righteous Gemstones (2019-2023)

The Righteous Gemstones is a South Carolina set HBO comedy from the mind of Danny McBride, that debuted in 2019. The show follows the Gemstone family, who run a very financially successful megachurch but aren't really the holy rollers they claim to be. The leader of the church and the brains behind the whole operation is Eli Gemstone (John Goodman), though the show mostly focuses on his former criminal, former pro wrestler, former but also sort of current drug addict son Jesse (Danny McBride), Eli's painfully uncool youth pastor youngest son Kelvin (Adam DeVine), and his neurotic and quirky daughter Judy (Edi Patterson). For three seasons and counting their empire has been threatened by blackmail attempts using videos of Jesse's drug use, a muckraking journalist (Jason Schwartzman) trying to use the family's controversies to make a name for himself, and Eli's former partner in crime (Eric Roberts) who comes looking to cash in on his old friend's Christianity based cash cow. Even though all the televangelists do tons of sinning, there's a disappointing lack of nudity on the show. With all due respect to Billy Graham, we prefer when Eli Patterson flashes her bra covered mam hoping it'll get a dude to spill the beans, as she asks him some questions. That hoot will have you losing your religion! But with all due respect to that faptism, the real temptress is Ruth Johansson, the thick and busty babe who wears a sensational cleavage baring top, then opens her legs and flashes a little upskirt at John Goodman while inquiring about a ride home. Did we hear "ride?" Good Lord, that'd be amazing! But what'd really be righteous would be if these gems showed their bodies so we could drain our stones to The Righteous Gemstones!
