The Promised Land (2023)

The year is 1755 and Ludvig Kahlen (Mads Mikkelsen), a poor soldier who managed to work his way up to the rank of Lieutenant in the Danish army, has retired and is looking to become a farmer. His goal is to till an untameable piece of land on the Jutland heath and, despite opposition from the royal court, the King grants him the opportunity to settle the land, even promising him a noble title if he succeeds. Ludvig gets help from two escaped serfs hiding on the land, a husband and wife named Joannes and Ann Barbara (Morten Hee Andersen and Amanda Collin) but makes an enemy of a rich neighboring landowner named Frederik de Schinkel (Simon Bennebjerg) when he refuses to be extorted by him. A power struggle ensues, and while there is no nudity, we do get a spicy sex scene between Amanda and Mads that we promise will still lead your hand to land in your lap!
