The Narrow Road to the Deep North (2025)

Amazon Prime turns Richard Flanagan’s best selling novel into a five part series that starts with successful surgeon Dorrigo Evans (Ciarán Hinds) sitting down with a young journalist who’s covering the book launch of a former colleague from Dorrigo’s army days. When the reporter compares the bombings at Hiroshima and Nagasaki to what the Japanese did to their Allied PoWs during Word War II, we start to see Dorrigo’s past, both as an Australian medical student before shipping out (where he’s played by the younger Jacob Elordi) and as one of those aforementioned PoWs made to work the Burma-Thailand railway during their captivity. Before joining the battle, he visits his Uncle Keith (Simon Baker) and cheats on his soon-to-be wife Ella (Olivia DeJonge) with Keith’s second wife, Amy (Odessa Young). Both ladies dial up the sexy in several scenes, though Odessa is the only one to reveal. her rack when she joins Jacob in the shower. But don’t overlook Essie Davis, who slowly rides Ciarán bareback in the second episode. She’ll have your hand traveling down to your deep south!
