The Gambling Man (1995)

Based on a popular novel by Catherine Cookson, the made-for-TV production The Gambling Man (1995) tells of a small-time rent collector who attempts to raise his status in life by gambling with his meager earnings. Robson Green stars as Rory Connors, the talented “gambling man” of the film’s title, who discovers that luck at the casino doesn’t always jibe with the best wishes of his family. After Connor’s marriage falls victim to his love of games of chance, the hero attempts to redeem himself by gambling his future on the daughter of a local businessman. Sylvestra Le Touzel plays the budding love interest who barely manages to keep her clothes on for the ramblin’, gamblin’ man.
