A short-lived 1994 sitcom that could aptly be retitled “Four Daughters-in-Law and a Matriarch,” The Five Mrs. Buchanans was an entirely unapologetic "chick-flick" of a comedy series. But the great flip side of "chick-flick" material is fairly obvious: we get lots of women to look at! And while TFMB was a whole lot wittier than you might expect, the real asset was the quintet of captivating cast members. Veteran vixen Eileen Heckart was the maddening mother-in-law, while the exasperated daughters-in-law were played by Charlotte Ross, Beth Broderick, Judith Ivey, and Harriet Sansom Harris. Dismiss the show as something made exclusively for your Mom and Grandma, but c’mon; wouldn’t TV-Land be a better place if we had just a few more all-female sitcoms?
