Scientists are such smarty pants, scoring so highly on their SATs, but if they were ever to learn common sense, movies such as The Fearless Vampire Killers (1967) would have no basis in reality. Director Roman Polanski pulled out his sense of humor in this horror-flick spoof that sends a doddering bat researcher and his callow assistant trekking off to remote Transylvania in search of vampires. Any vocational-school dropout can tell you that a vampire is the last thing a right-minded person wants to find. However, the old researcher's smooth-chinned assistant does discover enchanting aspects of the innkeeper's young daughter. Unfortunately, a creepy and dandified count has his eye on the lass as well.
