Review

Throughout the late 1960s and early 1970s, the respectable citizenry of America, particularly in semi-rural towns connected to major metropolitan centers by easily traversed highways, was aquiver over the menace of roving, rogue motorcycle clubs. As documented in the shocking footage of The Dirt Gang (1972), these amoral, authority-defying bikers would thunder into a town and infect its youth and other susceptible inhabitants with a virulent disdain for all things dull, placid, and churchly. Spontaneous orgies would break out in bars and crash pads. Snowy, pure cheerleader girls--influenced by the hussy strumpets who spread their thighs to straddle the throbbing cycle engines--fished out their breasts and set about seducing the scariest man they could find. The question we ask today, with the benefit of hindsight, is: What was so goddamn threatening about these bikers?
