WhenThe Wireco-creators David Simon and George Pelecanos team up, you can almost guarantee great results. In the dog days of the summer of 2017, they droppedThe Deuceon us, a series chronicling life in Manhattan in the late 70s when porn and prostitution ruled the streets.James Francopulls double duty as twin brothers Vincent and Frankie Martino. The former is a bartender trying to keep the mob out of his business while the latter trades in porn and doing odd jobs for the mafia. Vincent's bar serves as a meeting place for many different characters, all traversing Times Square in search of money or sex or drugs. A menagerie of characters gives the series its heart, like a prostitute named Candy, played byMaggie Gyllenhaal, trying to get enough money to win back custody of her son. There's also a gang of corrupt cops helping pimps to run illegal brothels in the area, as well as Abby (Margarita Levieva) an idealistic young girl who is trying to avoid a life of porn or prostitution, yet finds herself pushed towards both.
The pilot episode gets off to a great start withMaggie Gyllenhaalleading the way with a terrific topless scene!Margarita Levievais no slouch either, baring her perfect pair during a well-lit sex scene. Franco beds Amber Skye Noyesnear the end of the episode while she bares boobs and buns, andDominique Fishback flashes her funbags during a flashback! Since the pilot, we’ve gotten some tasty T&A from the likes of Julia DiVergilio, Alyssa Kempinski, Michelle Bobe, Deborah Twiss, Olivia Luccardi, Jamie Neumann, Kayla Foster, Emily Meade, Kim N. Wong, Natalie Paul, and Larisa Polonsky. Maggie Gyllenhaal definitely does the heavy lifting in this series, showing all three B’s, as well as lezzing out with a luscious lady, and getting eaten out on camera! The Deuceis shaping up to be one HBO's best series yet!
