Being in a rock band is like being in a marriage, except you have three partners, rather than only one, who need to be kept off your back and in the dark so you can go about doing whatever you feel like. The musical combo who hire on to play a converted meat-packing plant in The Choke (2005) are in the throes of divorce, although, like in many a sundered connubial bond, only half of the mates are aware that the honeymoon is over. But the gig goes queerly awry. The group finds themselves locked in a foreboding warehouse with a clutch of groupies, which sounds pleasant enough on the surface. But some psycho is killing off musicians and muffs in a systematic, one-by-one fashion. Is the murderer a homicidal outsider? Or have simmering creative differences percolated to a fatal brew?
