The Bad News Bears

After three Bad News Bears movies (Bad New Bears, Bad News Bears in Breaking Training, Bad News Bears Go To Japan) did huge business over three years, it was pretty obvious that TV types couldn’t keep their hands off. So it goes, this 1979 CBS TV series was born. Rather than build on the movies, the series started the story all over again, essentially disenfranchising all those that had seen the films. Jack Warden starred as the coach who’d got in trouble with the law and been told to choose – coaching a little league team that sucked or going to jail. Catherine Hicks was the school principal, with a soft spot for our grizzly coach. And the kids… hey, isn’t that a six-year-old Corey Feldman?
