Prior to this decade, Terrence Malick wasn't often thought of as a director who employed much nudity in his films. However, every film he's made since 2013's To the Wonder has had nudity in it, a trend we're hoping continues into his latest film, A Hidden Life.

After his latest, rather meandering trio of films—starting with To the Wonder, continuing inSong to Song, and concluding with Knight of Cups—Malick is back in the realm of telling afocused narrativeagain, this time bringing to life the true story of AustrianFranz Jägerstätter, played here by August Diehl of Inglourious Basterds. Jägerstätter was a conscientious objector living in Austria during WWII, who publicly resisted the Nazi agenda and ended up imprisoned for his beliefs.

Austrian beauty Valerie Pachner co-stars as Jägerstätter's wife, and she went nude in 2016'sEgon Schiele: Death and the Maiden, leaving us with even more hope of nudity in Malick's latest. True, it may not necessarily seem to fit with the subject matter, but let's not forget that even Schindler's List had plenty of skin!

A Hidden Life is scheduled to hit theaters in North America on December 13, right in the heart of awards season.
