Review

You’ll feel a splash in your pants while watching the erotic thriller The Swimming Pool (2003) starring Charlotte Rampling and Charles Dance — not to be confused with its predecessor The Swimming Pool (1969) starring Romy Schneider and Alain Delon. In this R rated flick, writer and director François Ozon follows British novelist Sarah Morton (Rampling) to France, where she stays at her publisher’s summer house. The authoress is there to fight writer’s block, and to lounge around sans clothes. The latter fact means we get to see Ms. Rampling’s full frontal nudity! Apparently, baring her breasts and bush helped her get back into the creative mood almost as much as her new muse: the publisher’s uninhibited daughter Julie (Ludivine Sagnier). Who wouldn’t begin to fantasize about things after watching the busty ingénue swim topless in the titular pool? Nice breaststroke! If that’s not titillating enough, the young blonde also likes to flaunt her big nude hoots while sunbathing and chatting to Ms. Morton. Suffice it to say, Sarah finds the sexually adventurous girl an inspiration. As a result, the writing keeps coming — as do audience members! This is especially true when it comes to views of Ms. Sagnier’s bare bosom in both the bathtub and the bedroom. Breast of all is the scene that showcases the babe’s bare chest, bearded clam and ass as she treads water. Of course, with Ludivine’s buoyant boobs, it’s a given she’ll stay afloat. In other words, watching Swimming Pool makes Mr. Skin all wet!
