Biography

A redheaded hottie with a 36½-26-35½ figure, Susan Hayward left Brooklyn, New York, for the fast life of Hollywood. She was one of many starlets in 1939 who auditioned for the part of Scarlett O'Hara in Gone with the Wind. Obviously, she didn't get it, but, frankly, my dear, she didn't give a damn. The fire-haired, tenacious actress paid her dues in several small parts before hitting the big time with a role in the Gary Cooper action-adventure flick Beau Geste (1939). And after that she just hit her stride, eventually garnering five Academy Award nominations for Best Actress and finally winning one for her portrayal of Barbara Graham in I Want to Live! (1958). But at Skin Central we want to see her as a live girl dancer. Considering the tame times in which Susan worked, on-screen nudity was scarce, so the closest we got to a peek at her peaks came via an accidental skin slip in With a Song in My Heart (1952). About 48 minutes into the musical her left breast clearly pops out of her dress during a song-and-dance number that'll have you doing the Charleston...in your pants! Ms. Hayward's career kind of went haywire starting in the late '50s. She starred in the obscure western Thunder in the Sun and the romantic drama Woman Obsessed, both in 1959, and acted only sporadically in the '60s and early '70s. In 1973 Susan was diagnosed with brain cancer. She died on March 14, 1975. RIP Susan--thanks for the NIP.
