Staff Picks: African Movies

Our Staff Picks column takes you back to a time when video stores reigned supreme and the "Staff Picks" section was the place to find out what films were worthy of one's time. Of course, our version of Staff Picks has a decidedly skintillating angle, as we suss out which films from a particular subgenre are the best to find great nudity. This week, we cover a classic: African movies.

Films from Europe and Asia regularly get featured on the internet. Films from South America have been getting a lot of love in recent years, too. One region of the world that remains stiffed by film lovers' attention is Africa which is a shame because a lot of African movies will make you stiff. I wanted to highlight some seriously sexy films from the African continent that show off a wide range of the continent's film prowess...and their babes.

Gaia

Gaia is a South African film by director Jaco Bouwer that earned a lot of critical acclaim in 2021. This horror flick takes place in the middle of the lush Tsitsikamma Forest in South Africa. Monique Rockman plays a park ranger named Gabi who goes for a river paddle with her partner when they come across some survivalists in the woods who live off the grid and on shrooms. Gabi accidentally gets hit by an animal trap and the survivalist family who saves her turns out to have strange beliefs in the forest.

They worship the goddess Gaia who will bring half-man, half-mushroom beasts to life. It just so happens that these guys aren't just crazy kooks. Gabi soon learns that they are real. She thinks that she and the survivalists are on the same time, but she soon learns that that is not the case. This is a wildly imaginative and surreal film that is topped off with Monique's many topless scenes! You're not hallucinating when it comes to those hooters.

Touki Bouki

Touki Bouki is a Senegalese classic! This 1973 experimental film is so beloved that even Jay Z and Beyonce have paid tribute to it in their music videos. Djibril Drop Mambety directed this low-budget film for only $30,000 during Senegalese cinema's golden era. The film is about a cow herder played by Magaye Niang who fixes up his motorcycle and dreams of driving it out of there one day. Then he meets a woman named Anta, played by Myriam Niang, who also dreams of getting out of town. She wants to go all the way to Paris!

The pair fall for each other and long to make their dreams a reality, but money is not in their favor. They come up with a money swindling plan that goes awry in this zany film that really is a must-see. To help convince you that you need to see it, let me assure you that Myriam Niang bares her breasts at the beach and dances nude. Touki Bouki has great Boobies!

Shaka Zulu

South Africa made this mini-series in the late 80s about the Zulu Nation aka Zululand during the time of King Shaka who united tribes in the region to create one country. The cool thing about this story is that a lot of the actors are actually of Zulu descent! This project is very famous in South Africa and notable because it was funded by the country and filmed during the apartheid. While it may not all be historically accurate, the breasts in Shaka Zulu are not up for debate.

The Zulu sexpots are topless a lot of the time, including Tu Nokwe who shows her pair while wearing her tribal gear. I am partial to Dudu Mkhize who looks totally seductive as she pours water with her juicy jugs out.

Atlantics

In 2019, this tense drama was shot in Darka, Senegal, about a construction worker who hasn't been paid for a job in months. He leaves the country for a better life along with a man and his lover...who is engaged to another man. The lover is played by Mame Bineta Sane who has three nude scenes. She shows off her booty in one and her breasts in the other two. You can see her perky pair in this long sex scene:

Much Loved

Much Loved has me falling in love with this 2015 Moroccan film. North African movies (Morocco, Tunisia, Egypt, Libya, Sudan, Algeria, in case you need a refresher) don't tend to be heavy on nudity. This film is an exception because it is about a couple of sex workers in Marrakech. Four sexy sex workers live together in an apartment in the popular city where they are made to feel shame about their jobs during the day despite the fact that their clients are some of the wealthiest and most important people in Moroccan society.

Staff Picks: African Movies

The film does a spectacular job of showing the hypocrisies of Moroccan society and the ways in which the old-fashioned patriarchy still has a hold on people despite how much progress the world has made. The girls are all super supportive of each other, so when times get tough they have each other to lean on. It's like a Moroccan Sex and the City if the cast were also selling their bodies.

Asmaa Lazrak, Loubna Abidar, Halima Karaouane, and Sara Elmhamdi-Elalaoui star and show various amounts of skin. Loubna shows her breasts, and Halima shows her hooha!
