Review

Al sur de Granada (2003) is likely one of the funniest--and nudest--films you’ll ever find about leading English intellectuals of the early 1900s. Matthew Goode stars as real-life British expatriate and literary figure Gerald Brenan, who ends up in Spain after developing an unrequited love for Jessica Kate Meyer--who’s busy being the celibate muse of another British author. Since it’s too early to go off and invent Maxim magazine, Goode indulges himself in laying plenty of sexy señoritas while laying the groundwork for Spanish-set novels that would later make him a hero of the land. Also known as South from Granada, this film will have your trousers traveling south of your beltline, thanks to sizzling turns from Bebe Rebolledo, Verónica Sánchez, and--don’t laugh, folks--Sauce Ena.
