After a disastrous plane crash leaves everyone but her dead, Denise Watson (Anita Skinner) is the titular Sole Survivor (1983). Soon she is haunted not only by memories of the tragedy, but by the specter of Death itself, who definitely seems to be under the impression that Denise was supposed to go down with her fellow passengers. But rather than collect our heroine first-hand, the Grim Reaper sends his minions in the form of the recently deceased, to come and collect the soul of the sole survivor. Made nearly two decades before Final Destination (2000), but most often compared to Carnival of Souls (1962) and It Follows (2014), the thinking man's horror flick was the feature film directorial debut of Thom Eberhardt, who would go on to make much better known movies like Night of the Comet (1984) and Captain Ron (1992). But Sole Survivor is the one you'll most want to watch solo, thanks to the plethora of nudity from some of the flick's gorgeous women. One live wire is the legendary scream queen Brinke Stevens, who will bring even the most dormant libidos back from the dead in a killer nude scene where she loses at strip poker, but we all win by getting to see her goodies when she takes her bra off. The same scene sees Robin Davidson keeping her bra on, before Anita Skinner flashes her funbags while in bed with her man. This scarefest flew under the radar in the eighties, but is well worth a viewing for both the inspiration it provided future filmmakers, and the skinspiration it provided young teens in the early 80's.
