A washed up detective probes the alleged suicide of an abuse victim in the Austrian whodunit Silentium (2004). Booted from the police force because of an addiction to pills, Simon Brenner (Josef Hader) sees an opportunity for redemption in the form of a suicide investigation. Because the deceased man spoke out about being a victim of molestation immediately prior to his death, Brenner suspects that the accused--a Roman Catholic archbishop--might be responsible for his murder. Director Wolfgang Murnberger utilizes CGI and Hitchcock allusions for his sordid tale, but his most effective decision is a casting choice: Luka Omoto dazzles in her role as a beautiful virgin who experiences a highly unorthodox introduction to sex.
