Shame, Shame, Shame (1999)

Great Nudity!

Review

Director Zalman King, who brought such classic erotic tales as Red Shoe Diaries and Wild Orchid to life, is up to the same old tricks again with 1998’s Shame, Shame, Shame, although not nearly as effectively so. The film concerns a young lady (Heidi Schanz; Universal Soldier: The Return, The Truman Show) who has a “Mommy Issue” and thus decides, for some reason, to interview various people about their sexual histories while they strip for her while she videotapes them. This leads to a lot of sex-type-talk, some impressive (and always stylish, like most of King’s movies…) nudity, although the actual “steaminess” of the film is quite questionable. Naturally, King has assembled an appropriate cast for the task, including the likes of Michelle Bauer, Mason Marconi, Anya Longwell, and Amber Herrel, among others, all of whom appear in some state of undress or another. Surprisingly, he managed to get them all to portray their various characters in a semi-credible fashion, which I think is deserving of some kudos. (Bauer’s and Longwell’s full-frontal flashes are especially nice…)
