You've heard about the movie's legendary nudity and you may have been blessed enough to catch the T&A (and B!) from the movie's stars Demi Moore and Margaret Qualley in person at your local cinema. First of all: what is The Substance? We've been hearing about it for months now, but what is this film about? Brought to us by 48-year-old French director Coralie Fargeaut, The Substance is the sophomore film from the sexy and violent director whose debut was the movie Revenge. In both films, women really go through it and they also take off their clothes. But The Substance goes nude on another level and the nudity is very important to the film's purpose.
The Substance stars Demi Moore as an aging fitness star named Elizabeth Sparkle. Sparkle is, well, losing her sparkle as she gets older. After she is fired to make way for a younger fitness guru, Ms. Sparkle becomes desperate. She is not about to take being pushed aside lightly. She doesn't want to become fully irrelevant, so she takes something vaguely called The Substance.
This black-market medicine promises to "split" Demi's body into a youthful tight-bodied hottie every other week. That way she can still experience youth and plan her time as a younger, hotter version of herself. However, the younger version of herself resents the older version and vice versa. Neither one wants to share the body anymore, so they both engage in bodily harm to hurt the other person "inside" of them.
With this much insistence on bodies young and old, it's no wonder that naked bodies are heavily on display in this movie. There are close-ups of both of their bodies to show off the differences in their bodies, but both of them look incredible. Sure, Demi has some wrinkles on her legs and tummies, but how many women over 50 look this good?
Demi Moore also deserves A LOT of praise for continuing to go this bravely naked throughout her career. I don't mean that she is brave because she is older and showing her body. I mean that she is brave for going nude no matter what. If the role calls for it, Demi Moore will do it. Not every actress is like that, no matter how old they are. She's a hero!
And Margaret Qualley? Well, she already loves to go nude. We love her for that and her ass has never looked better than in these carefully composed shots.
I don't want to give anything away, but the nudity increases throughout the film, and both babes are wrestling naked on the ground together at one point. The Substance is sure to make you eject some kind of sticky substance in your pants!
