The official tagline of Reflections in a Golden Eye (1967) fits perfectly with the overall nature of this bizarre, beloved cult classic: “Most women in her situation would do the very same thing! They just wouldn't do it as well—or as often!” The line refers to the character Leonora Penderton, unforgettably embodied by Elizabeth Taylor, who is married to closeted homosexual Army officer Weldon Penderton (Marlon Brando), while simultaneously carousing with the very heterosexual Lt. Col. Morris Langdon (Brian Keith). To this heady mix, Reflections further adds young exhibitionist L.G. Williams (Robert Forster), effeminate manservant Anacleto (Zorro David), and Mrs. Langdon (Julie Harris), who cut off one of her breasts with a pair of scissors. It’s no wonder drag queens go ape for Golden Eye, but the naked tush of all-time Hollywood icon Elizabeth will bring out the man in even the most mild of beasties.
