Pine Gap (2018)

Pine Gap (2018) is a Netflix/ABC (the Australian one) procedural that looks at the relationship between US and Australian alliances in intelligence, and other secretive government agencies. Yes, while we think of the Aussies as fun loving, hard partying people threatened only by the absurd amount of deadly animals the continent has to offer, Southwest of Alice Springs, deep in the Outback is Pine Gap AKA the Joint Defence Facility Pine Gap where The CIA, NSA, and NRO team up with Australian intelligence to track down threats to both of their countries. Who knew? A drama revolved around the facility and its workers, on the show our leader is Gus Thompson (Parker Sawyers), the new Mission Director who is immediately tasked with figuring out who shot down a civilian flight featuring both Australian and American citizens. Also struggling with the new gig is comm team head Jasmina Delic (Tess Haubrich). She's good with the work, but all the secrets are getting to be too much for her. And when the Australians and Americans start to disagree about what they should be doing and how they should be doing it, it's not long before Pine Gap becomes an even tenser place to work. Speaking of Americans and Aussies doing it, Mr. Skin couldn't work there because the sexual tension would be out of control! The real intelligence in this one was behind the camera, since those people were smart enough to include plenty of naked ladies to keep your attention.
