The Tears of Saint Peter (1995)

A traveling snake-oil saleswoman in medieval Sweden promises that her magic potion can deliver miracles in the Scandinavian drama Petri tårar (1995). Elegant Izabella Scorupco stars as Carla, the traveling drummer who dresses up as a “Carlo” in order to effectively work her rouse. Making bold claims that her magical “Tears of St. Peter” functions as a guaranteed anodyne, the con woman is nearly run out of town by village officials who fear the wickedness of her ways. Scorupco’s gender-bending costumes can be a drag, but the Polish-born knockout’s good enough to clear up any and all confusion by letting her birthday suit speak loud and clear.
