A slain medieval knight returns from the grave to claim revenge on the ancestors of his enemies in the sinister Euro horror film Panic Beats (1983). Directed by cult icon Jacinto Molina (also known as Paul Naschy), the under-acknowledged chiller stars Naschy as a wealthy architect who moves his ailing wife (Julia Saly) to a towering country estate. Unbeknownst to either of the vacationers, the estate has been constructed on the site where the architect’s notorious ancestor––a sixteenth-century satanic knight––met an unfortunate end. And, because he’s not content to rest, the ghost raises living hell for the married pair. Frights abound, but it’s the sex scenes that set Molina’s film apart. Carole Kirkham, Silvia Miró, and Paquita Ondiviela are anything but demure about turning the burial ground into a playground for ferocious carnal activity.
