No good turn goes unpunished, says the wise man. The Chinese have a maxim that if one person saves another’s life, the savior is responsible for that person for the rest of their days. The moral of One Good Turn (1996) might be "don’t let just any bastard pull your inert form from a burning car and revive you." Matt (Lenny Von Dohlen) is saved from a flaming wreck by Simon (James Remar). By rights, Matt should be able to consign Simon to the reliquary of warm and grateful memory, but Simon arises like a vengeful stalker. He signs on at Matt’s place of employment; he shacks up in Matt’s pool house; he beds down with Matt’s wife. Is Simon looking for thanks or a knife in the gut?
