On Our Own

Note: This is a comedy-series that was produced in 1994 and doesn’t have anything to do with the one made in 1977 of the same title. It centers on seven children whose parents died in a car accident. In order to prevent them from being split up by the authorities, the oldest one, 20-year-old Josh (Ralph Louis Harris) masquerades as a woman and poses as their aunt Jelcinda. Additional support comes from the nice social worker Alana (Kimberley Kates). A cheesy Mrs. Doubtfire rip-off, On Our Own wasn’t much of a success and thus was cancelled after its initial 20 episodes. Nevertheless two of the cute kid-actors (Jake and Jurnee Smollett) were nominated for Young Artist Awards in 1995. Nudity Report: This is the worst sort of American TV show – they aren’t even allowed to throw in a little bit of nudity every now and then. What a loss, seeing that the source material was potentially first rate. Asian beauty Karen Kim showed off her assets in the sex-thriller Cover Me, while the equally stunning Kimberley Kates did a meat-drapes revealing full-frontal turn in 1998’s Armstrong.
