A shrewd French fashion photographer undercuts his best friend’s artistic ambitions by selling his script to a hack porn producer in the meta-filmic romp On aura tout vu (1976). Distributed internationally as The Bottom Line, Georges Lautner’s feisty comedy stars Pierre Richard as the shutterbug who figures he’s doing his buddy a favor by passing his screenplay on to somebody “in the industry.” When the script is accepted and filming is slated to begin, the wildly excited screenwriter enlists a close friend to play the female lead––a misunderstanding that causes all sorts of comic complications to ensue. Lautner’s witty film exercise gets a lift from its cheeky premise and its shrewd casting; French bombshells Miou-Miou, Sabine Azéma, and Arlette Emmery all use the opportunity to show off their Gallic goodies to an appreciative audience.
