Neue Vahr Süd (2010)

A reluctant solider struggles with his newfound profession in Neue Vahr Süd (2010). In 1980s Germany, Frank (Frederick Lau) is still living with his parents when he is drafted into the Army for forgetting to fill out the refusal paperwork. On his first weekend home from the barracks he discovers that his father has turned his room into a TV repair space, and he moves in with his freewheeling friends in a community house of left-wingers. When his status as enlisted man leads to clashes with his new roommates, he submits a conscientious objection application but is denied by his commander. Worse yet he is chosen as a torchbearer to lead recruits in a military pledge ceremony, where packs of protestors are sure to be waiting. Rosalie Thomass shows off her proletariat peaches playing a free loving honey who convinces the hero to become a conscientious objector. We have no objections at all to that perfect pair!
