Born on May 12, 1938, in Passaic, New Jersey, Millie Perkins was recognized for her beauty in an unexpected place. She was working as a receptionist at a New York City advertising agency when a photographer took notice of Millie's good looks. Soon, Millie was working as a model, and by 1958, the rising star had become an international cover girl. Her onscreen debut came shortly after that. You won't find many debuts more depressing than Millie's turn in The Diary of Anne Frank (1959). Her touching turn as the title character made her an overnight star — which soon led to Millie indulging herself in some very bizarre roles. Her follow-up to Frank had her co-starring with Elvis Presley in Wild in the Country (1961), and it wasn't long before Millie abandoned Hollywood in favor of low-budget weirdness, including the legendary existential westerns Ride in the Whirlwind (1965) and The Shooting (1967). Millie also showed up in the drive-in classic Wild in the Streets (1968) and the legendary cult item Cockfighter (1974). Nobody was surprised when Millie finally went skinematic with some kinky castrating sex scenes in The Witch Who Came from the Sea (1976). Perkins remains a respected actress, but the closest she's come to the mainstream remains TV guest spots and a few seasons on the nighttime soap Knots Landing (1979). Otherwise, Perkins prefers to lend a hot older presence to bizarre indies such as Slamdance (1987), Two Moon Junction (1988), and Necronomicon (1994). Ms. Perkins will perk you right up!
