Among the several complaints I heard all summer long about Midsommar, the film's length was never one of them. Everyone I spoke with that saw the film, whether they loved it or hated it, said that the 147 minute running time wasn't an issue. Hopefully enough people felt that way because the film is coming back to theaters this weekend in an extended, unrated Director's Cut that runs a full 24 minutes longer.

There's been no strong indication of what to expect from director Ari Aster's more luxurious cut of the film, but I would imagine a "more of the same" sort of attitude will prevail. If you didn't like the theatrical cut, it's doubtful you'll change your opinion thanks to the director's cut, and conversely, if you loved the theatrical cut, this will allow you to spend more time in that expertly crafted world.

As far as the nudity goes, I would also expect that the stuff that's already there will remain, it's our time codes that won't correlate, so Isabelle Grill's amazing nude sex scene will probably land ten or fifteen minutes after it originally appearedathour and fifty-nineminute mark!

Check your local listings, but the Midsommar Unrated Director's Cut arrives in theaters on Friday.
