There's no celebrity story I love more than Matthew McConaughey getting busted for naked bongo playing whilst high on mary jane. It's one of those stories that just made so much sense, and McConaughey has leaned into this persona a bit in his real life, having a bit of fun with it in Magic Mikeand Surfer, Dude.
Now he's going whole hog in Harmony Korine's The Beach Bum, essentially imagining if his Wooderson character from Dazed & Confused had moved south and lived the Bohemian lifestyle for two decades too many. It looks like a lot of fun and while this red band trailer is certainly not lacking for profanity, drug use, or McConaughey in a thong, it does lack any female nudity—no big shock as the main female in the film is Isla Fisher.
However, if this film looks like anything, it looks like the further adventures of Spring Breakers, Korine's last film. And while that flick didn't bring us Selena Gomez naked, it got the other three lead females—Ashley Benson, Vanessa Hudgens, and Rachel Korine—to show some skin!
It's a safe bet there will be nudity in the movie though as no doubt countless extras will be topless in the film, as they were in Spring Breakers. Either way, it looks like a damn good time at the movies.
The Beach Bum smokes its way into select theaters beginning March 29, following a premiere at this year's SXSW Festival.
