Marutai no onna (1997)

A fading actress gets pulled into a grisly murder investigation in the Japanese crime thriller Marutai no onna (1997). Nobuko Miyamoto plays an actress whose career is on a downward slide when she unwittingly bears witness to a cult killing spree. Desperate for a break in the case, a lead detective (Akira Nagoya) decides to dangle the woman as bait, hoping to lure the cult figures out into the open by giving them an opportunity to silence the state’s star witness. Miyamoto was nominated for a Japanese Academy Award for her performance here, and it’s hard to imagine that male voters weren’t influenced by the rack she offers to an eagerly lapping lover.
