Every once in a while you hear about a perfect casting decision. While somewhat rare, when the right actor is picked for the right part, it’s like magic. And when it comes to casting a 1970s prostitute at the height of the porn industry in Manhattan, there is no better choice than Maggie Gyllenhaal.
Maggie Gyllenhaal will soon be on your television screens as Candy in the new David Simon show The Deuce. And honestly, I couldn’t think of anyone better for this role. The blonde wig, the high-waisted short shorts, the barely-there top showing off cleavage and side boob—can you really picture anyone else in this role. And her name being Candy? It’s like David Simon wrote this part just for Maggie Gyllenhaal. Although her character’s real name is Eileen Merrell, she goes by Candy. That might just be her streetwalker name. Plus, I’m pretty sure she is going to be the best part of the show. And of course, there will probably be some nudity because after all, it’s Maggie Gyllenhaal and The Deuce is going to be on HBO.
Sadly, we are all going to have to wait another year before The Deuce comes to a small screen. HBO loves to tease everyone with their upcoming and possible nudity filled shows. Remember all the excitement around Vinyl?We got some great nudes before that one was cancelled.Hopefully The Deuce will also live up to the hype.
