Le roi en son moulin (1997)

A well-meaning Frenchman offers his daughter’s hand to a grieving father in the made-for-television period drama Le Roi en son moulin (1997). Based on a celebrated novel by Gilbert Bordes, the film stars Vincent Winterhalter as Jean, a coarse giant whose life is left in tatters when his two sons are killed in war. Out of sympathy for the lumbering miller, Baptiste (Jean-Marc Thubault) offers his beautiful daughter Pauline (Noémie Kocher) as a gift, but the woman has little interest in the unattractive laborer. She does give their matrimony a hearty try, however, by undressing for the big fella in a forest glen--it’s no surprise that he can’t wait to put his hairy paws all over her lithe, alluring body.
