NBC executives didn't really gel with the oddball humor of David Letterman and his incredibly unique takes on the late night talk-show format. The network simply didn’t know what they had in the popular funnyman, so when they passed over him as the most logical choice to replace Johnny Carson on The Tonight Show, he bailed for CBS to go head-to-chin with Jay Leno. Leno might have beat him in the ratings more often that not, but Jay had the built in bump of being in LA, which always gave him the bigger names than Dave's Big Apple based show. Letterman’s Late Show with David Letterman was still very much a ratings winner and perennial powerhouse for the Tiffany Network, from its debut in 1982 to it's finale in 2015. From his battles with weirdos like Harmony Korine and Joaquin Phoenix to stupid human tricks, stupid pet tricks, tribute band week, appearances by his mom, Jay Thomas' incredible Lone Ranger story, wild pranks at the "Hello Deli," and more, Letterman was can't miss television if your funny bone was a bit eschew. But if we were making a top ten list of reasons we loved watching The Late Show, number one would be its parade of some of stardom’s sexiest sirens. Who can forget Drew Barrymore leaping on Letterman’s desk for a topless table dance? Letterman must have given her an A in his pants for that routine! There was also Tina Fey stripping down to some sexy shapewear, a skit with Cher in a thong, Britney Spears cracking jokes in a bikini, Selma Hayek jiggling her jugs in a very cleavage heavy top, and more. If any lovely lady wanted to do some real showing on The Late Show, we bet Dave would have let her, man!
