Review

A free-thinking Israeli bachelor faces overbearing pressure to wed in the darkly riotous romantic comedy Late Marriage (2001). Lior Louie Ashkenazi stars as Zaza, a thirty-one-year-old single student whose Georgian parents are bent on finding him a sweet and virginal Jewish girl to settle down with. The fact that mom (Lili Koshashvili) and dad (Moni Moshonov) are rigidly orthodox traditionalists means that Zaza’s clean out of luck when he reveals that the true love of his life is a sexy Moroccan divorcée (Ronit Elkabetz). Elkabetz steals the show in a love scene that had critics buzzing at film festivals around the world. You’re not going to want to miss a second of the lovers’ blissful marathon session.
