Review

There’s love in the air in Manuel Güero Castro’s spicy Mexican B-movie Las Perfumadas (1987). The title of his film (The Perfumes) coupled with the image on the box cover--of bikini-clad babes frolicking in front of giant flowers--might lead viewers to expect sumptuous softcore delights. In fact there’re plenty of those, but Castro’s alternate title, Muerte Sangrienta or Bloody Death, gives some indication of the film’s true temperament (well, that and the fact that the gals are holding Uzis). No matter--lead actress Hilda Aguirre looks good whether she’s kicking butt or merely showing some off. The actress takes an alluring stroll through the bedroom in a scene that finds her boy toy anxious to be on the receiving end of Aguirre’s supple pleasures.
