Lady in Cement (1968)

Action seemed to spring up wherever Frank Sinatra went. As private eye Tony Rome in the hardboiled murder mystery Lady in Cement (1968), the blue-eyed warbler can’t even take a relaxing scuba expedition without happening upon a buxom blonde beckoning to him from the bottom of the sea with her feet encased in a coating of quick-set concrete. Ever the helpful pal, enterprising dick Sinatra attempts to assist a Miami cop buddy in determining the origins of the waterlogged lass. Loyalties become conflicted when a large lug hires the mercenary shamus to conduct a conflicting investigation. Sinatra’s smooth-operating panache brings out an envy that turns to rage in police and mobsters alike. Rome is in a desperate situation, desperation Sinatra-style. Who other than the Chairman as a last resort turns to help from none less than Raquel Welch?
