Ever since seeing Olivier Assayas' 2017 flick Personal Shopper, I've had a bit of a turnaround in my opinion of Kristen Stewart as an actress. She's finally been able to shirk her lip-biting and other -isms that had hindered her abilities in the past, and it honestly has me excited to see her take on French New Wave icon Jean Seberg in the upcoming biopic Seberg.

The Iowa native rose to prominence in the 60s thanks to her leading role in Jean-Luc Godard's seminal New Wave classic Breathless, becoming an instantfashion icon with her pixie haircut and a symbol of the growing women's movement thanks to her character's cavalier betrayal of her lover. In the late 60s, however, her political activism began to overshadow her film work, and the FBI summarily destroyed her life and career through constant investigation into her activities via their controversialCOINTELPRO program.

This biopic covers those crucial years in her life, leading to her still-hotly-debated death by suicide in 1979 at the age of 40. Seberg is the sophomore directorial effort fromBenedict Andrews (Una) and co-stars Margaret Qualley, Zazie Beetz, Vince Vaughn, and Anthony Mackie. It also features two terrific topless scenes from Stewart, sure to be a big selling point for the film on our site! The film opens in limited release on December 13 before moving to its permanent home on Amazon Prime early next year!
